Communications & Marketing Section Meeting & Summer Content Workshop

IPRA's Communications & Marketing (C&M) Section consists of park district professionals that either specialize or work in and around marketing, communications, graphic design, and sponsorship.  Join us for our Q2 Board Meeting, followed by a Social Media Committee Summer Content Workshop.  If you are interested in joining the section or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to attend. 

Event Timeline:
10:30 - 11am:  C&M Section Board Meeting
11am - 12:00pm:  Social Media Committee Summer Content Workshop
12:00 - 1:30pm: Ice Skating Social (Complimentary entry and skates!)

Social Media Committee Summer Content Workshop Details:
Summer is the most content-rich season for parks and recreation agencies, but it is also the busiest. This interactive workshop focuses on practical strategies for creating engaging short-form video content that is easy to produce and effective at capturing attention.  Participants will explore what makes a Reel stop the scroll, how to identify and adapt social media trends for family-friendly audiences, and how to streamline filming, editing, and posting workflows. Through collaborative breakout discussions and a short writing exercise, attendees will leave with ideas, scripts, and strategies they can implement right away.

The session also includes a Summer Content Calendar Swap where participants share ideas, discuss timing, and brainstorm video concepts for programs that are harder to promote through short-form content.  Forza Meats is also donating snacks for the meeting: mini deli sandwiches and charcuterie will be provided free of charge.

Participants will:
• Identify current short-form video trends and how to adapt them for parks and recreation
 • Learn efficient workflows for filming, editing, captioning, and posting Reels
 • Practice writing hooks, scripts, and creative calls-to-action
 • Leave with a ready-to-film short video idea and new summer content inspiration

If you’d like to stay after the roundtable, continue the conversation on the ice!  Glenview Park District will be offering complimentary public stake. This portion of the event is optional.
