Youth & Day Camp Committee Meeting (TR)

Description

Located within IPRA's Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Section, the Youth & Day Camp Committee consists of a group of professionals that either specialize or work in and around camps at special recreation agencies.  If you are interested in joining the committee or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to register.

For our December meeting, we’ll begin looking ahead to Summer Day Camp 2027! This will be an opportunity to share timelines, planning strategies, challenges, and best practices as we all begin preparing for another summer season.We’ll discuss what everyone’s planning timelines look like and how different organizations approach some of the biggest pieces of summer camp planning.

Topics for discussion will include: facility request timelines and securing camp locations, field trip planning and reservation timelines, pool locations and securing swim time, bus bids and transportation planning, transportation challenges — has anyone else had difficulty finding buses with more than **two wheelchair-accessible spots**?, pre- and post-camp care — does your organization offer before- or after-care during the summer?, camp age ranges and how organizations determine their groupings, day camp handbooks and behavior contracts, what policies or expectations are included in your camp materials?, wuestions, challenges, and best practices to share with the group

Please come prepared to share your organization’s **Summer 2027 planning timeline**, what has worked well in the past, and any challenges you’ve encountered. This will be a great opportunity to compare approaches and hopefully pick up some new ideas as we head into summer planning!

How to Participate: This meeting will be available for IPRA Members in the CommUnity.  Registered participants will receive access links the day prior.
