SUMMARY:IT Networking Committee Education & Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Located within IPRA's Administration & Finance Section\, the IT Networking Committee consists of park\, recreation\, and forest preserve professionals that either specialize or work in and around information technology. The challenge is that technology expenses are often some of the least understood line items in a public agency budget. Vague billing statements. Services get added or changed. Complex contracts renew. Before long\, organizations are spending more than they realize without anyone intentionally making that decision. This session provides a practical look at how technology spending works\, where public agencies commonly overspend\, and a few simple questions leaders can ask to make sure they're getting the value they need. No technical background required. Just a straightforward conversation about an area of the budget that can be a blind spot and can have a meaningful financial impact.A Digital Accessibility Roadmap\nThis high-level session presents a strategic overview of digital accessibility for Park District staff\, focusing on a compliance deadline of April 26\, 2028\, and key requirements of WCAG 2.1 Level AA. It outlines the roles of content creation and IT enforcement\, the audit approach\, and the implementation of ADA-compliant templates. Key challenges\, such as PDF remediation and video accessibility\, will also be discussed. How to Join: Zoom links will be sent to all participants before the end of the day on August 5.Members can click here to log into their accounts and opt-in to the IT Networking Committee list and CommUnity Group through Lists/Committees.
