SUMMARY:Nature Committee Meeting & Education: Inclusion Practices at Four Rivers
DESCRIPTION:Located within IPRA's Recreation (REC) Section\, the Nature Committee consists of a group of professionals that specialize or work in and around nature centers and nature programming.  If you are interested in joining the committee or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes\, you are encouraged to register.Session Description:  Developed through the accreditation process with the National Inclusion Project\, Four Rivers has adopted many practices to ensure all visitors\, regardless of ability\, have the opportunity to learn and interact with all aspects of the nature center. This presentation will cover many of these practices and allow for the hands-on opportunity to experience them together\, including live transcription\, communication tools\, image-based communication\, and an adaptive all-terrain wheelchair.Learning Objectives: \n1. Participants will learn about the barriers faced by community members with varying cognitive and physical abilities as they visit public nature centers.\n2. Participants will engage with and come to understand the effectiveness of multiple forms of communication.\n3. Using multiple inclusive elements\, participants will explore the nature to gain a new perspective on the effectiveness of small investments in accessibility.Members can click here to log into their accounts and opt-in to the Nature Committee list through Lists/Committees.
