This 6-week Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) Prep Course provides a solid foundation to help you prepare for the exam and attain your professional certification goals. The CPRE exam is for the mid-level or above professionals who are CPRPs or held that certification within the past two years. Professionals will have a better understanding of how they can best prepare to become a CPRE through an understanding of exam content areas and with practice questions to assist in your exam preparations. A FREE practice exam will be offered upon completion of the class. The CPRE certification has established the national standard for managerial, administrative, and executive park and recreation professionals. This nationally accredited mastery-level certificate, the highest level a park and recreation professional can achieve, places professionals in the company of an elite group of park and recreation managers and executives demonstrating leadership in managing a recreation department. If you are ready to take the next step in your professional journey, this course is for you. Classes taught by Katie Troline, CPRE, MBA, AAPRA Fellow (Gold Medal Force, LLC).


To qualify for the CPRE exam, you must meet one the following NRPA eligibility requirements:


Hold a current Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) Certification, or have held CPRP certification whose expiration date is within two years of the date of application for the CPRE, AND


Hold a master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited education institution, and 3 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR


Hold a bachelor's degree from a program accredited by the Council On Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Related Professions (COAPRT) accredited program and 4 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR


Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited education institution (from a non-COAPRT accredited program), with a major in recreation, park resources, or a related professional and 5 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR


Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited education institution, with a major other than recreation, park resources, or a related profession and 6 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR


Hold an associate degree from a regionally accredited education institution and 8 years of professional full-time manager experience, OR


Hold a high school diploma or equivalency certificate from a regionally accredited institution and 10 years of professional full-time manager experience.



Registration deadline is Thursday, February 19, 2026.


Who Should Attend: Professionals with CPRP certification seeking high-level administrative opportunities are encouraged to pursue CPRE designation to demonstrate leadership in all aspects of managing a park and recreation department.


Course Fees: The cost to participate in the six-week course is determined by your IPRA membership, not NPRA membership. IPRA member pay a discounted rate to participate.
