The research is clear- high-quality play and recreation destinations can serve as catalysts for creating healthier, happier communities. Explore innovative design best practices that encourage social and environmental change, meet the diverse needs of society, and create sustainable, innovative outdoor spaces that delight and surprise visitors. Communities can capitalize on local assets, inspiration, and potential by thoughtfully engaging stakeholders to dramatically transform outdoor spaces into vibrant community assets. Presented by Bill Patterson of Cunningham Recreation, this session will explore projects of distinction that exemplify how communities have mobilized resources to turn research into practice and unite diverse communities.

Practitioners interested in learning more about evidence-based design practices that result in successful outdoor destinations that promote healthier, happier communities.
