Located within IPRA's Recreation (REC) Section, the Senior Committee consists of a group of park district professionals that serve older adults. If you are interested in joining the committee or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to register.
Each meeting provides space to highlight successful programs and learning moments, explore new trip and event opportunities, and exchange strategies for memberships, communication, and engagement. Committee members are encouraged to contribute examples from their districts, ask questions, and help guide the committee’s priorities for the year.
February Topics:
Conference recap: Key takeaways from sessions related to senior services and how they apply to district programming.
2026 initiatives: Prioritizing 1–3 committee goals for the year (e.g., Enhancing communication and membership value: How newsletters, e-blasts, membership perks, and passes (e.g., pickleball, drop-ins) can better support senior engagement and retention.).
Program spotlight: Reviewing successful fall/winter events (e.g., Turkey Trot, holiday parties, trips) and identifying what to repeat or adjust for spring and summer.
New trip and experience ideas: Regional outings such as theater trips, garden visits, food tours, and one-day educational programs.
Open forum: Time for members to share challenges, questions, and needs from their own agencies.
How to Participate: This meeting will be available for IPRA Members in the CommUnity. Registered members will receive access links the day prior to the meeting.
