Youth & Day Camp Committee Meeting (TR)

Description

Located within IPRA's Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Section, the Youth & Day Camp Committee consists of a group of professionals that either specialize or work in and around camps at special recreation agencies.  If you are interested in joining the committee or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to register.

For our October meeting, we’ll shift our focus toward planning for the upcoming school year and continuing to grow youth programming opportunities as well as teen/young adult. We’ll discuss new youth programming ideas, upcoming days off from school, current registration numbers, and ways we can continue offering engaging indoor programming as the weather gets cooler.  We’ll also spend some time sharing ideas and strategies for connecting with our member entity schools. We’ll talk about how you currently reach out to schools for program space, build relationships with school staff, and increase SEASPAR’s exposure to the schools’ Special Education populations.

Topics for discussion will include: new youth programming ideas, teen & young adult programming and opportunities to expand this age group, day-off-school plans and registration numbers, indoor programming ideas for the colder months, current programming successes and areas for growth, strategies for securing space at member entity schools, building relationships with school staff, connecting with and increasing awareness among Special Education populations, questions, ideas, and best practices to share with the group.  Please come prepared to share what has worked well for you, what you’ve struggled with, and any ideas or questions you’d like the group to discuss. We’re looking forward to another collaborative conversation!
