Summary
Hidden Oaks Nature Center (HONC) was acquired by the Forest Preserve District of Will County. Shortly thereafter, we were granted the opportunity to redesign the nature center. Join me, a squirrel, among a team of squirrels, in the telling of the transformational tale of how our newly renovated facility came to be. Included in the tale is the myriad of considerations, including the “must haves” and the “definitely nots” and let’s not forget, the good, the bad, and the icing on the nature center cake. I promise to leave your head spinning with all the potential your own space holds for a 5-star rating. Learning Objectives: 1. Discover some creative and insightful considerations of exhibit design 2. Identify the “Must haves” & the “no ways” of interpretive planning 3. Examine the Icing on the cake or a-ha! moments
