Celebrate Illinois Unplug Day at HEParks!

Join us for a day of digital detox and outdoor excitement at HEParks' Celebrate Illinois Unplug Day! Hosted at the picturesque South Ridge Park in Hoffman Estates, this event is your chance to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the joys of nature, activity, and community.

Unplug Illinois, an initiative by the Illinois Park & Recreation Association, encourages us to step away from screens and embrace the enriching experiences that await us outdoors. Research shows that unplugging can enhance our well-being, improve sleep quality, and boost interpersonal skills.

Time: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm 

Location: South Ridge Park, 1450 Freeman Rd, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169

This free event welcomes everyone to enjoy a variety of 'unplugged' activities amidst the serene surroundings of South Ridge Park. From engaging in active play to fostering creativity and forging connections with others, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Activities Include:

• Ninja course races (registration required): Compete against your peers on our ninja style course! South Ridge Park has a series of physically demanding obstacle course equipment stations, similar to the popular TV show "Ninja Warrior". The person who completes the course correctly with the fastest time in each age group will win a prize. 
  • 5-7 year olds (Code: 235912-A)
  • 8-10 year olds (Code: 235912-B)
  • 11-12 year olds (Code: 235912-C)
• Bubble Show by TwistiCity at 11:00 am
• Children's Interactive Music Performance by Jeanie B and the Jelly Beans at 12:00 pm
• Local organization presentations, including Police, Fire, Palatine Library, STDL, Bach to Rock, Kona Ice, Youth Commission
• Inflatable obstacle course

Don't forget to bring your swimsuits for the splash pad fun!

Celebrate Illinois Unplug Day is part of the statewide Unplug Illinois movement, advocating for healthier lifestyles, sustainable environments, and vibrant communities through active participation in park and recreation activities.
