Description

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an early intervention public education program designed to equip adults with the skills to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges. The program teaches participants how to identify early warning signs and symptoms that may indicate a person is experiencing a mental health concern or crisis. It also emphasizes the importance of approaching individuals in a supportive, nonjudgmental way, offering reassurance, and providing appropriate guidance toward professional help. Through MHFA training, participants learn practical steps for supporting someone who may be developing a mental health condition or experiencing a crisis. This includes how to listen effectively without judgment, how to respond calmly in difficult situations, and how to connect individuals with mental health resources and services that best meet their needs. The goal is to improve early identification and intervention so that individuals receive help sooner, which can lead to better outcomes. 

MHFA Blended Course Setup:  Shortly after August 31, participants will need to complete two hours of online self-paced coursework.  Registrants will receive an email titled "MHFA: Let’s get started!" that will contain log in information and steps that need to be taken to complete your pre-work, which needs to be completed 24 hrs prior to the live instructor-led course.

CEUs

Program is approved for 0.5 CEUs and will be awarded to those in attendance for the full day.
