Description


The Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) course is a national certification program offered by the National Recreation and Park Association and hosted by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association. The program is designed to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date training for pool operators and focuses on water chemistry, disinfection, mechanical systems, operations, healthy pools and safety. Upon successful completion of the AFO Course and a 50-question open book exam, participants will be certified for 5 years by the National Certification Board in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association. If your job requires you to oversee a public pool or aquatic facility, or you are looking to further educate yourself on aquatic facility maintenance and operations, you are encouraged to take this course.



Location: Woodridge Park District's Fred C Hohnke Community Center, located at 2600 Center Drive, Woodridge, IL 60517.


Hotel Accommodations: A block of rooms is available at Aloft Bolingbrook, located at 500 North Janes Avenue, for guests requiring overnight accommodations. The discounted group rate is $118 per night plus tax. To make a room reservation, please CLICK HERE. Reservations must be made by Friday, February 16 in order to receive the group rate. Guests must cancel their reservation 48 hours in advance of arrival to avoid penalties.


Course Materials: Course materials will be sent to attendees at least one week before the stat of the course. Participants are encouraged to register early to allow time to read the course materials in advance of the first day of class.


Special Exam Accommodations: Candidates with a disability covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) may request a special accommodation for the exam. The request must be submitted in writing to IPRA by Monday, January 15 (at least 45 days prior to the scheduled date for the course and exam). 


English as a Second Language (ESL): English as a second language (ESL) candidates may request a time extension and/or the use of a strict translation dictionary. The request must be submitted in writing to IPRA by Monday, January 15 (at least 45 days prior to the scheduled date for the course and exam).
