Description
The Forest Preserve and Conservation (FPC) Section consists of professionals that either specialize or work in and around forest preserves and/or conservation. This event will begin with a Forest Preserve & Conservation Section Meeting followed by a Learning Lab titled "It's A Night Thing: The Importance of Protecting the Dark." If you are interested in joining the section or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to register.

11:30am: Forest Preserve & Conservation Section Meeting
11:45am: Presentation of "It's A Night Thing: The Importance of Protecting the Dark" by Ken Walczak
Presentation Description: This learning lab will review the ways artificial light at night affects our natural world and provide solutions that forest preserve and conservation districts, as well as park districts can be stewards of a healthy nighttime environment.
Learning Objectives:
1. Gain an understanding of light pollution and its impacts.
2. Learn how to identify the difference between poor and quality lighting.
3. Learn actionable ways to mitigate light pollution
