Description

The Forest Preserve and Conservation (FPC) Section consists of professionals that either specialize or work in and around forest preserves and/or conservation. This event will begin with a Forest Preserve & Conservation Section Meeting followed by a Learning Lab titled "Federal Funding for Conservation and Preservation."  If you are interested in joining the section or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to register.

Event Timeline
2:00pm:  Forest Preserve & Conservation Section Meeting
2:30pm:  Presentation of "Federal Funding for Conservation and Preservation" by Heidi Peper

Presentation Description:  There has been historic levels of federal funding over the last several years, most notably through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This learning lab will review how to research and identify potential funding programs relevant for conservation and preservation projects and best practices to position your projects for that funding.

Learning Objectives:
1.  Gain an understanding of how federal funding is flowing to local projects.
2.  Gain an understanding of what federal agencies have programs pertinent to conservation and preservation.
3.  Learn tips to make your project stand out from others.
4.  Understand the realistic effort it takes to apply for federal funding.

CEUs:  Event is approved for 0.1 CEUs and will only be awarded to members in live attendance for a minimum of 45 minutes (Continuing Education Units are for certifications such as CPRE, CPRP, CTRS).
