Description
The National Recreation and Park Association's Playground Maintenance Course (PMC) is a one-day (6.25 hour) educational course that provides participants with an understanding of basic playground hazards, applying safe maintenance practices on equipment, identifying surfacing types and proper maintenance procedures, and establishing proper record keeping practices. This is a great opportunity for permanent/seasonal part-timers that service playgrounds during the busy summer months, and it is considered good starter course for aspiring Certified Playground Safety Inspectors (CPSI). Course taught by Rolling Meadows Superintendent of Parks and certified PMC instructor, Brian McKenna. Participation includes a continental breakfast, lunch, playground visit, and certificate of completion.
Course Objective: Upon successful completion of this course, the maintenance professional will be able to understand basic playground hazards, apply safe maintenance practices on equipment, identify surfacing types and proper maintenance procedures, and establish proper record-keeping practices.
Who Should Attend: Part-time and full-time practitioners tasked with the responsibility of maintaining playgrounds at public parks, schools, and private facilities. This is a great starter course for those interested in pursuing CPSI certification in the future.
