Safe Zone Conversation: Fostering Inclusion Through Open Dialogue
Safe Zone Conversation: Fostering Inclusion Through Open Dialogue
Wednesday, February 26, 2025 (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (CST)
Description
In celebration of Black History Month, you are cordially invited to participate in IPRA's first member-wide Safe Zone Conversation of 2025 on the topic of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). A Safe Zone Conversation (SZC) is simply defined as civil dialogue amongst a group of people purposely engineered to discuss human topics that can be deemed sensitive, uncomfortable, or complex in nature. It is an environment of mutual respect and inclusivity, a safe place for people to speak their minds. All comments and questions are welcome - there is NO JUDGEMENT here!
If you’re looking for an opportunity to start or continue the DEI discussion, or simply be part of the movement for a more inclusive future, you are encouraged to join us as we bring together professionals from all regions of Illinois to talk DEIB in a non-threatening environment. Registration is limited to the first 40 people, so don't miss out!
How to Participate: The event will take place via Zoom and a virtual join link will be emailed to registrants on Tuesday, February 25 2025.
What to Expect: Participants can expect a full 90-120 minutes of engaging dialogue that is expertly facilitated by trained volunteers (IPRA members), an interactive format with time for reflection and sharing, and identification of resources to assist participants on their individual DEIB journeys.
What Topics are Discussed: The Safe Zone Conversation focuses on fostering understanding and open dialogue around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) topics such as, but not limited to, political pushback, belonging, racism, LGBTQ+, Latinx, disability, and mental health.
Additionally, participants will learn how to become a volunteer facilitator and host a Safe Zone Conversation exclusively for their agency.
CEUs: This event is not approved for Continuing Education Units (Continuing Education Units are for certifications such as CPRE, CPRP, and CTRS).
FREE for IPRA Members / $10 Non-Members
