Description

Located within IPRA's Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Section, the Youth & Day Camp Committee consists of a group of professionals that either specialize or work in and around camps at special recreation agencies.  The TR Section Youth and Day Camp Committee's annual Site Supervisor Workshop is an opportunity for day camp staff to learn new techniques on daily planning, budgeting, behavior management, and communication. We will have two guest speakers to touch on various topics relating to summer day camp. The first guest speaker will present about mental health and creating a positive work environment for you and your staff. Our second guest speaker will provide examples of daily program planning, behavior management techniques, budgeting, and communicating with families and day camp staff. There will be a Q&A at the end for any attendee to ask questions of the speakers or committee members. If you are interested in joining the committee or simply wish to attend for educational and networking purposes, you are encouraged to register.

Learning Objectives: 
1. Gain skills in creating a positive work environment for their staff.
2. Learn behavior management techniques to be used in summer camp.
3. Gain organizational skills in regards to daily planning and budgeting for summer camp.
